David Walter has been studying and practicing Acupuncture since 2000. He is a graduate of the prestigious Florida Institute of Chinese Medicine in St. Petersburg, Florida. As part of the rigorous program of study, FITCM students are required to log over 1300 of medical classroom time and 800 clinical hours. In addition to Acupuncture, interns study Chinese herbs, Moxabustion, Chinese massage, and electric stimulation, to treat a wide range of internal and external illnesses.
David practices the Hokushin-kai style of Japanese Acupuncture. He one of the few non-Japanese doctors that have been allowed entrance into this prestigious organization. David is fluent in Japanese and regularly takes trips to Japan to learn from various experts of Acupuncture, in an effort to improve his diagnosis and treatment technique. Unlike other acupuncturists in the area, David can read and write Chinese characters and therefore has a much deeper understanding of the fine points of Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treatment.
Aside from his abilities in Traditional Chinese Medicine, David Walter is also an accomplished Martial Artist who holds multiple degrees in various Japanese martial arts, including a 4th Degree and Instructors license in Yagyu shinkage-ryu Heiho Iaido, 2nd Degree blackbelt in Aiki-Jujutsu, and a 1st degree in Niten Ichi-ryu Kenjutsu. David teaches Japanese swordsmanship and Aiki-Jujutsu on Monday & Wednesday at the Orange Lake Civic Center in Largo, Fl.
David Walter lives with his wife and 6 year old son in St. Petersburg, Florida.
